Thrift Store Makeover

Reclaimed Wood Candle Holder

I love a quick and easy project and I hope you do too.

The hardest part of this project will be gathering your supplies.  Be on the lookout for an old scrap wood post. A 4×4 would work great, mine is 3×4.   Also put on your shopping list a pillar candle holder similar to the one shown above.  This was a $3 thrift store find.

Cut your reclaimed wood post in varying lengths…or all the same length, it’s up to you.

Mine are about 4, 6 1/2 and 9 inches tall.

Sand well, to get rid of splinters, rough edges and even a little blackened dirt.  Don’t get rid of all the grime, that there is what we call patina.

I’m using my grinder with a metal cutting blade to remove the candle holders from the stand.  A hacksaw would also work but would take a few extra minutes.

Drill a hole in the center of your reclaimed wood with a drill bit the same size as the candle holder posts. Insert the candle holder.

If the candle holder post does not seem secure add a few drops of glue to the hole.

Such a quick and easy project, ready for display in under an hour.

Until next time, stay inspired.

More upcycled candle holder ideas for you.  Be on the lookout for pallet wood, driftwood, clay pipes, barrel staves, jello molds, seashells,  a wall divider, shutters, a chandelier or a big fat branch.
