Beginner Woodworking, Super Easy DIY Wood Candle Holder

Easy DIY Wood Candle Holder

Hi friends and welcome back.  I spent Sunday of last weekend helping number 2 son work on a treehouse in his 3 year old’s room.  It’s going great!  It has reclaimed flooring and reclaimed windows…anything I could find in my garage that looked like it could be installed on a treehouse I hauled over to his house.

As of today, the electrical is done, one wall is complete and the flooring is installed.  Still not ready for it’s debut so I’m bringing you 2 super easy wood candle holders instead.  I almost made 3 but then I would have to set a third table.  So 2 it is!

One of my pieces of wood was straight from the log pile, the other, a beautiful piece of driftwood.

I didn’t end up using the Cyprus tree from the first pic because it was too fat to fit under  my chop saw.  Instead, I used a branch from a Bradford Pear that had fallen while we were on vacation this year.  It’s about 3″ wide and I chopped it into 3 – 4 inch slices.

To fit a normal tealight into my candle holder I’m using a 1 1/2″ spade drill bit..  If you don’t already own one, this will be the most expensive part of this project. Ok, I’m assuming you have a drill and a saw.

You just started and you’re almost finished.  Drill a 1/2 hole in each branch chunk.

Now for my second wood candle holder I’m using this fantastic driftwood log.  Place and space your candles evenly over the driftwood and mark.

Once again, drill your 1 1/2″ holes with the spade bit and your drill.  The dried out driftwood was far easier to drill than the newer branch pieces.  The only thing left to do is set the table.

With the branch candle holders I envision a long family table  with 20, 30, or even more tealights, at all different heights.  Plan now, or at least before Halloween, if you want to decorate your Thanksgiving table with gourds or pumpkins.

For the driftwood candle holder I envision a beach theme.  I’m using a metal pail to hold silverware and seashell napkin rings. The “pewter” chargers are another DIY, these are from 2016.

Such an easy project, it’s time to set the table.

Until next time, stay inspired.
