Over the weekend I had the pleasure of scavenging the Route 11 Yard Crawl in Virginia with my 2 sisters and my youngest son. While the yard crawl is over 40 miles of flea market madness, it is just a baby compared to the longer 690 mile Route 127 Yard Sale. Considering we only covered about 25 miles of our yard sale, we still shopped until we dropped.
Tip: If you plan to go, you may want to consider going a day ahead of time. Apparently many booths set up on Friday (or before) and are picked over by the start of the official yard sale.
There is really something for everyone here but you may have to dig for it. If you’re in the market for children’s clothes , toys, glassware, tools, you will have come to the right place.
Old Stove
Our group was looking for the rusty and unique, the funky and the chic. We didn’t buy the old stove, but that would have fit all our categories, it was just a little on the large size.
The traffic is the heaviest where there are a lot of tables set up. Early in the day we stopped and shopped often. by the end of the day we were doing a lot of “lookie loo” shopping, driving slowly by the roadside stands and shopping from the car.
I see a few lamps in my scavenging adventure, but that may be just me.
