Recycling and Upcycling Ideas from all Over

Scavenger Files Recycling and Upcycling Ideas from all Over

Whenever I travel anywhere I always have my phone in tow ready to capture any project that inspires me or might inspire you.  There are talented people everywhere.

I was looking thru all my photos and found that I had taken over 60 photos, so it’s about time I got them off my phone and sent out to the world.  Get ready to be inspired and to add to your to do list.

I always appreciate a good coffee table made from pallet wood.  I still like mine better 🙂 but this is such a nice simple design.

I love to see creativity in artisans and this little pig fits the bill.  It’s a barbeque!  I know he’s beyond my skill level but maybe he’ll inspire someone.

This fun bar sign is from Kenosha, Wisconsin, from where else but the Waterfront Warehouse.  I love a good sign painted on reclaimed wood.  Need help transferring your image onto pallet wood?  Maybe this Oyster sign will give you a head start.

Reclaimed wood cabinet.  Design your own like I did with this shutter cabinet.

More reclaimed wood makes the perfect rusticness for one of a kind frames.  Search my website for DIY frames if you need even more ideas.

Even more reclaimed wood frames, these from old beadboard.  Anybody know where I can get those itty bitty clamps?  I’m kind of liking them.

Roll of paper for all your lists and artwork takes up less space when you combine it with a shelf.

I don’t know what this rusty cage was in it’s past life or if it is just made to look old but I do love the combination with the Edison bulb.

This table base looks like it’s made from an old root.  It was in the lobby of a hotel we stayed in.

This is what it looks like from the top.

Right up my alley, another shutter project, this one a jewelry holder.  Check out all my shutter projects here.  I think I’m up to 32.  You have a shutter, I have an idea for you.

I didn’t have to go very far for this inspiration, my sister had everyone over for a crab feast and on each of the tables were these little Radio Flyers to hold all the condiments and accessories.

This looks like MacKenzie Childs but I never bothered to look at the label.  They do all the boldly painted ceramics for lotsa money.  If you like the look, grab a few candlesticks paint and glue.  Walmart sells The Pioneer Woman floral dishes which might be a good stand in.

How cute is this little footstool covered in a gray rag rug, or use the multicolored, it’s up to you.

Use your old maps to cover canvasses for places that are meaningful to you.  The grouping on the left is kind of boring…I know you could do better.

A zinc dough bowl does double duty holding pumpkins for holiday decor.

I do love an upcycled pendant, this one from an old rusty funnel.

If your’re a little hard on your golf clubs maybe you have a few extras to make a golf club lamp.  Or, if you’re that hard, maybe it’s time to give up on the game.

I love the fabric choice on these upholstered dining chairs.

An old hay trolley upcycled into a hanging pendant.  Check Ebay for lots of hay trolley options.

How about making a coat hanger with old spools.

Find an old tool box or., better yet make one from old wood for storage, decor or serving.

Another old tool caddy, so cute with flowers.

Use collage papers, old music, fabric or wallpaper to make a background for this picture holder on a vintage window.

You may see a large coffee table with a tic tac dough board, but what if you could make the tic tac dough board from a vintage window?

This vintage window gives the look of stained glass with its glass beads and dishes.

Decorate a vintage window with paper doll cutouts.  Perfect for a little girls room.

The last pictures are all cubbies and boxes, I do have a weakness.

You can find my pallet wood cubbies here or another set of organizing shelves here.  If you can visualize it, you can make it.

I hope I managed to inspire you by one of these finds but I’m always willing to look some more.  If you do see something that could possibly be a project in your future make sure you pin it because you’ll never remember where you saw it.  Or is that just me?

For more fun projects that I’ve found in my travels make sure you click on the heading Scavenger Files.  I’ll have the other half of my discoveries next week.
