Thanksgiving Tablescapes and Buffet Ideas

Thanksgiving Tablescapes and Buffet Ideas

Hello friends and welcome back.  I’m back early this week because  I have a bunch of Thanksgiving tablescape and serving ideas for your feast this year.  I wanted to give you a little extra time for gathering all your treasures.

These first 2 Thanksgiving tablescapes are from my own hosting in years past.    When we host, we usually have 20 or more family members, so it’s always a hodgepodge of chairs, silverware, dishes and added on tables.

I gave my nieces and nephews the job of putting together the oreo and reeses turkeys on each plate above.

Just my own direct family of my husband and our 3 sons has grown to a dozen people , what with  4 grandchildren and  3 daughters in laws.  Add in aunts and uncles and cousins and it can be quite a crowd.  Of course everyone brings a couple of dishes to share so there is more than enough food for everyone, plus lots of leftovers.

Thanksgiving china and rust table.

A wonderfully long tablecloth is great to cover up and minimize all the differences in the tables.

As I was looking thru table setting ideas I found that many broke out the fine china. I know that we are far past the times when you would register for your china pattern when you got married in hopes of receiving a place setting.  We are now having that same china passed down from our parents or grandparents.  Since most of the younger generation are a little more practical and don’t need the extra dishes laying around, many of these china sets are ending up in the thrift stores.

If you were not the recipient of your parents china and would like to go fancy on occasion,  hit the thrift stores first.  This past week I found this 42 piece  Noritake  china set( I think it’s Cumberland design) for sale at my local thrift for $29.99.  Since I was there on 25% off everything day, it would cost only $22.50.  Right now a set for 4, 20 piece Noritake Cumberland china set, on Etsy is going for $245.00.  At $22.50, this is almost cheaper than buying disposable plates. 😀

Tablescape and Centerpiece Ideas

I hope you saved your pumpkins and gourds from Halloween because you’re going to need them for these beautiful Thanksgiving tablescape ideas.

Your own table does not have to be as full as these, but try to include plenty of greenery,  lots of candles, nice glassware, table runners or tablecloths and cloth napkins. Hydrangeas, colored glassware and wood elements are also featured prominently.

You don’t have to make your table as full as these, these are just here to get you inspired with all the possibilities.

With all that stuff on the tables there is no room for food.  Now you have to have a separate buffet table to fill up your plate.  Just break out more pumpkins and candles and multi-level serving and you got this.

Most of these photos were found on the internet, if I could find the original poster, I’ve included a link in the photo.
