Junky Valentine Hearts
With Valentines Day just one week away, I decided to get you in the mood with a recap of all my past junky Valentine hearts that I’ve created through the years. All of my Valentines are based on the tried and true heart shape and they all contain something junky, whether it is scavenged pallet wood, some other reclaimed wood or just a rusty trinket.

From 2015, the heart that started it all, we have this pallet wood and rusty hinge heart. Pallet wood makes up the heart and the background with a couple of hinges thrown in just for fun.
In 2016, I used more pallet wood as a backing and sticks cut equal lengths to fill in the heart shape. A little hinge and lock hide a tiny compartment.
Also from 2016 was this pallet wood heart with a portion of one of my grandma’s love letters attached.
In 2017 , I mixed up the background, this time using slate, on this upcycled valentine.
This is just one of a trio of junk hearts, once again using pallet wood as a background, some old sheet music and more junk.
I wasn’t finished in 2017 just yet, I got the family involved with help painting their own hearts. It’s a great group activity.
I do love my pallet wood backgrounds. This time spindle pieces in shades of pink make up this 2018 heart.
Next up for 2018 was a handpainted heart on an old roofing shingle. This one could also be used as a magnet board.
This heart was created from an old barrel hoop bent into the shape of a heart and driftwood.
From 2021, I brought you this pair of junk hearts with old keys, locks and bicycle chains.
In 2022 I cutout a Valentine in old barn wood and backed it with rusty corrugated metal.
The cutout heart from the above corrugated heart needed it’s own display.
And last , but not least, last years Valentine thrift store wreath on a reclaimed wood barn door.
If you are still in search of more ideas, make sure you check my Pinterest page with all of these hearts and over 100 more junky Valentine hearts gathered from all over.
Until next time, stay inspired.
