Upcycled DIY Halloween Ideas

Welcome back friends.  With Halloween fast approaching I decided to revisit and remind you of some of my past Halloween projects.  I have way too  much Halloween decor so this year I’m just decorating with what I have.

First up I bring you this  Spells book from 2014.

I used a hollow book from Michaels but feel free to make your own carved out book as I did here.

The spells book is completed with  paint, tissue paper and Mod Podge.

From the same post, I also created an apothecary jar using an old bottle.

Melted red crayon gives the look of blood dripping down the bottle.  Find the full DIY here.

Decorating the door that year was this lovely and welcoming spider on a twig wreath covered with spider webs.

In 2015 I made a skull wreath starting  with the same twig wreath.  This one is covered in skulls and bones from the dollar store and spiders and snakes from my own stash.

In 2017 I was into copying vintage seed packets onto reclaimed wood.  This oversized pumpkin seed packet is great for  fall seasonal decor.

A thrift store find glass dome inspired these crows under glass.

Or if you have an extra skull lying around, a skull under glass.

If you’re hosting during the holiday you might want to consider putting together this super simple skull and bones cheese tray in a pallet wood box.  This one was for a Halloween themed baby shower.

This skull print is also mounted on top of  pallet wood.

Or  display your pumpkin in this easy box with even more pallet wood and an old dowel.

This pumpkin is painted on an old slate.

Also in 2018 I had fun printing out spooky pictures and placing them in old windows.  You can find one here and here.  A great use for those odd shaped old wooden windows.

Finally in 2021, I  did the same spooky type face this time transforming a mirror.

Looking back I do seem to decorate a lot with skulls. 🙄

I haven’t created any new Halloween decorations myself lately, just reusing a lot of my old projects but I hope I’ve inspired you to creep out your  own house.

Until next time, stay inspired.
