3 Five Minute Crafts and a Bird Themed Baby Shower
My niece and her husband, both ornithologists (you know, bird people) are so excited to be welcoming their first baby to the nest. See what I did there?
And with this exciting news, her mama threw her a baby shower , and of course it had to have a bird theme.
I got into the grand scheme of things by throwing together a couple of birds on pedestals to add to the birdy decor. Start with a couple of candlesticks and birds.
To make your birds nests you will need both spanish moss and regular moss. The spanish moss was leftover from my mini Christmas tree collar. The green moss was growing in my backyard.
Grab a handful of the spanish moss and form it into a nest like shape.
Hot glue the nest onto your candle pedestal.
Tear off a piece of the green moss and hot glue that onto the spanish moss.
Hot glue your bird onto it’s rightful place on top of the nest. I like the hot glue for this project because it adheres fairly quickly but it doesn’t have to be permanent. The glue can be peeled off both the candlestick and the nesting bird.
My pair of nesting birds were used as decor at the bird themed baby shower.
As for the rest of the shower, look how beautiful this charcuterie board is. It’s all set up on a piece of recycled granite with the edges chipped off to make it look like an irregular piece of slate. I didn’t include that in my count of three easy 5 minute crafts but that could easily be number 4.
Keeping with the bird theme, my sister wrote food labels on plastic eggs and inserted them in all the dips.
The charcuterie board was made to look even more professional with salami and pepperoni flowers.
I didn’t believe my sister when she said it was soooo easy to make the meat flowers so I had to take pictures when she showed another niece how to make the flowers.
Which brings me to my second 5 minute easy craft. All she needed was sliced meat and a glass. Fold the meat over the top of the glass, press down firmly and layer the slices on.
This was the result on her first try.
The third 5 minute easy craft were these bird nests scattered on all the serving tables. She had dismantled an old grapevine wreath and reformed it into several smaller birds nests. The birds nests are glued onto cardboard circles. These nests are also lined with moss. The eggs are real brown and white blown eggs she had done a few years prior. In this picture, the bird nests are flanked by chicken and shrimp salad sandwiches.
Did these give you party or shower ideas for the bird lover in your family?
As always, stay inspired.
