Easy Easter Bunny Project, Pottery Barn Inspired

Easy Easter Bunny Project, Pottery Barn Inspired

Welcome back.  Last week I shared with you my Pottery Barn copycat painting. I must say, all of your comments were so generous and kind.  This week I’m headed back to Pottery Barn, not for a copycat project, but an inspired by project.

I was totally inspired by this trio of birds sitting on chunks of wood.  Pottery Barn’s cost is $29.50 each.  So when I say inspired, I really mean, I can do that!

I did love the Pottery Barn birds and I have looked for birds at my local thrift stores for a couple weeks now, but I haven’t found any that I would like to have sitting on a wooden post.

What I did find were these 2 cute little bunnies from the dollar section of my local Target store.  At $3 a piece, I could totally picture them sitting on my reclaimed wood.

Target did have one other bunny laying down, but I didn’t think he would work as well on a post.

I’ve already cut 2 chunks of wood off of my longer reclaimed wood post.  My cutoffs  are about 3 and 5 inches in length.

Going off of my Pottery Barn inspiration, I sprayed the two bunnies with Rustoleum Chalked paint in a charcoal color.  If I had flat black paint in my stash, I could have used that as well.

I sanded the posts well to get rid of splinters and soften the edges then stained the cut edges with a pine stain.

Glue the bunnies to the post with a clear heavy duty adhesive such as E6000, or Gorilla glue.  Let dry.

One more look at my inspiration birds and I noticed they had some gold highlights.  Well I need that too.

Once again I returned to my supplies where I found my tube of rub ‘n buff in gold.  It was almost dried out but I was able to get just enough on my finger to give my little bunny some shine.

How about that for an easy Easter bunny project.  Hopefully I gave you enough time to head to your local Target before they  clear away the Easter decor.

Happy Easter everyone.  Until next time, stay inspired.
