Easy Craft – 4th of July Glass Vase

4th of July Glass Cylinder Vase
After showing you the year long living room makeover project 2 weeks ago I thought you might like an easier project. How easy you may ask. Well, this project probably took about 15 minutes.
What you’ll need, glass cylinder vases (hurricane vases), Mod Podge, bristle paint brush and colorful napkins. The hurricane vases were originally from the thrift store and I’ve given them makeovers several times already (check out those at the end of the post), I already had the Mod Podge and paintbrush. The only thing I needed to buy was napkins. These were from Walmart, $1.48.
Gently pull off the backing,, the second ply, of the napkin.
I cut the napkin in half. I’m just using the bottom half of the napkin and the red and white striping from the top. The outline of the U.S. does nothing for me.
Napkin is all ready to place around the vase. I did need to use a second napkin since one was about 4 inches short.
Paint on a nice even layer of Mod Podge Waterbase Sealer Matte trying to not get it any higher than the height of the napkin.
Place the napkin gently over the Mod Podge and seal with a second coat of the Mod Podge. There will be some crinkles in the napkins but that’s just the nature of the beast.
I’ll tell you how easy these are to create…do you see that yellow stuff at the other end of the table? That’s Playdough, 2 of the grandkids were playing Playdough the entire time I was putting these together.
Time to start on the second glass vase while the first one is left to dry.
The Mod Podge dries clear.
Time to insert candles and set the table.
By just adding the flag themed glass cylinder vases and the same napkin under the bowl my table is all set for the 4th of July.
Such an easy craft and so easy to personalize for any party. Use a neutral dish and just change out your napkins.
If you do get tired of the flag decor, soak the hurricane glass in hot water, clean, and choose a new fun napkin.

This is not the first time I’ve decorated these glass cylinder vases but it is probably the easiest. OK, all of these were pretty easy. 🙄
