Next weekend is Easter weekend and we’re celebrating with my wonderful, and always very hungry, family. I’ve been assigned to bring an appetizer. Rather than go with my usual, buffalo chicken dip, bacon wrapped smokies, Mexican bean dip…you know, those tried and true recipes that always disappear, I decided to hunt down an appetizer more reminiscent of the season. Think bunnies and chicks.
I haven’t quite decided which I’m going to pick, but all of these caught my eye.
From It’s Always Autumn comes this Easter Bunny Spinach Dip. This guy is a strong contender for my appetizer choice.
At Easy Meals for All I found this adorable carved watermelon. That post actually includes 13 clever ways to cut and serve watermelon.
A little twist on a deviled egg from Real Housemoms. These are spiced up with jalapenos and bacon.
Another deviled egg twist, this one from Southern Living that comes with a Youtube video. I don’t know how easy this guy is, I saw several pinterest fails which didn’t quite look like this guy.
Carrot Crescent appetizers from This Mama Loves. She shows how to make the crescent wrap and gives you a few choices for stuffing.
This hummus dip in a terra cotta pot was found over at Totally Tots.
More carrots! These are carrot inspired chocolate covered strawberries from LilLuna. If you check out her post, she serves them in dirt pudding cups, a little more of a dessert idea, but they look delicious.
Are piggies a symbol of Easter or spring? Whatever! How cute are these guys stuffed with bacon jam and chorizo. These piggies are from the So Good Blog.
I’m guessing chicks fit more with the season than piggies. These mini cheese balls are from Hallmark.
If you like baby chicks, maybe you’ll like the big daddy of baby chick cheese balls from My Food and Family.
These parmesan bunny ears from Savvy Mom, are made with puff pastry and parmesan cheese.
More chocolate covered strawberries (source unknown), but this time it’s all about the presentation.
I would probably serve this fun platter with a dip but I love the carrot inspiration. Could not find the source, but I think you can figure out how to assemble this one.
Our Italian Kitchen made this cute little bunny with a artichoke and spinach dip, find out how here.
Craftriver has a little different take on both the bread bowl and dip. Both equally cute.
Too many vegetables? Try making your bunny from fresh fruit instead. This one is from Tastefully Simple and is served with a key lime fruit dip.
These veggie bars from Garnish and Glaze are made with crescent rolls and Hidden Valley Ranch dressing. A fun way to get your kids to eat their veggies.
Heart shaped pineapple flowers are the centerpiece of these beautiful fruit kebabs. (source unknown)
From Allrecipes comes a spring garden planted in a bed of hummus.
Edible tulips from A Few Shortcuts. These are stuffed with a mixture of cream cheese, cucumber and basil.
I love lettuce wraps, and these Bulgogi Lettuce Wraps from Rasamalaysia . Maybe not just for Easter, were just colorful enough to make my possible appetizer list.
And finally, from the Girl who Ate Everything comes this delicious looking Bloomin’ Onion Bread. Again, maybe not just for Easter but it looks fantastic.
So many great ideas. At least I have a week to pick one. Don’t they all look yummy?!
Oh Man, time for lunch! So many good choices, I really like your top two and also the Craftriver bunny/dip; I really like the Fruit Kabobs, what a gorgeous presentation. Also the “A Few Shortcuts” tomato roses/celery, that would be good and pretty darn easy and looks beautiful.
I live in Arizona and all the fruit kabob ingredients are readily available; for after dinner it would be great or even for a bridal/baby shower I think.
Maybe you should make two on the smaller side.
That’s probably a good idea because they all made me hungry.
