Easy Pallet Wood Outdoor Side Table
I have one more outdoor project for you before the weather turns too cold and then I should be inside until spring.
This project goes together really quick using an old plant stand for the legs and my old stand by, pallet wood, for the top.
Cut equal lengths of pallet wood. Mine create a 22 inch square, about 8 inches wider than the diameter of my plant stand.
The pallet wood is secured from the bottom with more pallet wood cross braces screwed to the top. Make sure the smoothest sides of your pallet wood are facing up.
I’m placing the plant stand in the middle to make sure my cross braces are just on the outside of the stand. Those cross braces will keep the top from shifting back and forth.
Sand the top and sides well.
Use watered down acrylic or chalk paints to highlight the individual boards and resand the edges to soften up the painted edges.
Cut narrower pallet wood edge pieces and screw to the sides of your top.
If you plan to use the top as a tray, add handles to the sides. These are old kitchen cabinet pulls, painted with chalk paint.
The table, as it is, could be tipped if things are placed on the outer edges. If you like more stability or have little kids and don’t mind the loss of a portable tray, you can easily secure the plant stand to the pallet wood with pipe clamps.
The first frost was not heavy enough to finish off my summer flowers. Until the cold weather comes, I’m enjoying every moment I can get of these beautiful fall days.
Have a great week. Stay inspired.
