Fall Decorating with Pallet Wood

Just in time for Fall, a fun, easy, and inexpensive DIY for all you pallet wood lovers out there.
Start with a bunch of pallet wood. You will also need a dowel or spindle and more scrap wood for the legs.
Cut four pieces of pallet wood to make a 15″ square, it can be larger or smaller depending on the size of your pumpkin.
Secure with finish nails. You don’t have to have a nail gun, but it does make this project so easy.
Cut more pallet wood for the bottom and nail into place.
For the legs, I’m using my braces from the wedding arbor. Yes, the arbor has been reduced to a pile of scrap wood.
The legs are 2×3’s cut to 12 inches with sanded ends. You could also use more pallet wood, the choice is yours.
From the inside, attach the legs with screws.
Two additional pieces of pallet wood extend up from the sides. Drill holes near the top, the size of your spindle or dowel and screw or nail into place.
Remember to insert the dowel before you attach the sides.
Because you’re using pallet wood, it’s going to be rough, but sand down as many rough edges or splinters as you can.
Paint as desired. Of all the colors in the rainbow, I chose black…but hey, it goes with everything.
For a more worn, softer look, distress the edges with sandpaper.
Right now, mine has found a home on my front porch but I may move him indoors as a centerpiece.
Have a great week, stay inspired.

This little box stand thingy is so neat! I love it! Just so happens I have some pallet wood and a spindle as well. Would be super cute on my porch.
I like how you call it a box thingy, I had no idea what to call it either. Thingy is good!
Yes, the thinger and the dinger are at my house, too. ha
