Am I rushing the season? We have one nice day and I’m thinking warm sunny beaches!
For all you pallet lovers out there this is a really easy project. You will, however, need a few supplies.
Pallet wood, wider is better for this project (my fish were about 20 inches in length)
Paint in assorted colors and stain
A jigsaw
and a sander
Draw your fishy outline directly onto your pallet wood.
Cut out your fishy outline with a jigsaw and sand all the edges well. Also sand the flat surface of the fish to get him ready to be painted.
Paint away! This would be a great group project for kids, everyone could decorate their own fish.
If you need more fish ideas their are a bunch on Pinterest. Just enough to get your creative juices flowing.
Of course, I thought my fish were too bright so I grabbed my sander again and roughed them up a bit. Finished off with a coat of dark walnut stain. That is my preference, feel free to leave the bright colors as is.
I was all finished when I thought my two fish could use a couple of friends.
Now I’m officially ready for the warm weather.

Joan, these are GREAT!!! What fun and beautiful fish! :)) In my imagination I can see a garland of little fish hanging… in wood or fabric! Sweet!
That would be fun to see a row of these guys hanging from a porch. These were 20 inches, so I would probably do them much smaller.
I love these fish! I actually bought fish for my son’s nautical nursery and for our nautical bathroom. It would’ve been better to create my own little fish. Great job!
Your fish are Sooo cute!! I pinned them to make later….It would be a fun project to do in the summer with my daughters group of friends. If I cut out the fish they can each paint one. 🙂
Thanks for the desperation!!!

Cute. Would go well in a bathroom. Old fence boards would probably work for this, too.
Love these!! Awesome job, very clever.
They are lovely! What an easy and fresh DIY. 🙂
Love pallets cheap and useful.
These are really amazing love it!
Hi Joan, I just found you through the link part over at Finding Silver Pennies! I LOVE your little palette fish. My hubby’s workplace puts palettes into the dumpster by the hundreds, so I get him to bring some home from time to time. This is another great little thing I can try. Thank you for sharing! I am going to add you to my blogroll…I like your style!
