Candy Cane Canes

Candy Cane Canes, Upcycled Canes

I have a Christmas project for you and hopefully I’ve brought it to you early enough so that you can grab your supplies.  Old wooden canes!!

Besides canes, you’ll also need some wide painters tape and red and white chalk paint.

Paint  your canes with white chalk paint.   Make sure you have somewhere to hang the canes while they dry.

Wrap the long straight part of the cane with the painters tape.

You won’t be able to use the tape for the handle so stop when you get to the bendy part.

Paint your candy cane stripe.  I’m using a stenciling brush but if you don’t have one, just paint over the painters tape lightly.

Remove the tape and touch up if needed.

Hand paint the remaining part of the  candy stripe.  I used a fat brush then touched up with a tiny brush.

Leave as is (bottom) or sand lightly  (top). Personally, I always like the scuffed look.

Have a great Thanksgiving.  Count your blessings and stay inspired.

You have such a great eye for unexpected materials! I was passing these canes a hundred times and never even thought of making such a cool stuff out of them!
    Great idea!
