Christmas Bazaar – Trees, Signs and Sleds

In September I had the opportunity to visit Chartreuse and Company’s  Fall Market Days.   The place was loaded with furniture and crafts  with a farmhouse, sometime shabby chic style.  In early November they started their holiday bash and I had to return.  Just consider it blog research.

If you are near Frederick, Md,  keep in mind that the  barns are usually open just once a month, but they will be open for two more weekends before the end of the year. November 17-19:  Holiday Open Barn

December 1-3:  December Open Barn – Last opening of the Year!

So just in case you can’t make it, I took lots of pictures.  You may notice a theme…wooden trees, signs and sleds.

In the past I’ve decorated with my Grandma’s old sled,  it’s now a shelf,  but vintage sleds are perfect for holiday decoration…

…or the centerpiece of your Christmas buffet.  There really is a sled under there.

Normally I wouldn’t put a sled or a wagon on my dining table, but wouldn’t they make fun centerpieces for a holiday buffet?

Plumbing pipes, reclaimed wood and a wire basket  combine to make a great upcycled light.

Another upcycled light.  This time with an old bike rim.  That would be such a fun gift for the bicycle enthusiast.

Bed springs and a cabinet door wine holder.

Wood Christmas trees were big at the market. Love this little tree made from dowels and reclaimed wood.

Another similar tree, this time with white painted molding.

One more  reclaimed wood Christmas tree.

More trees!  Time to start decorating the outside of your house.

Before you decide on which Christmas tree you’d like to make,  you may want to consider my own pallet wood Christmas tree.

Simple Joy sign using a natural wood knot as the ‘O’.

Don’t have a fireplace mantel?  Think about mounting your stockings on an old barn door, or maybe it’s just whitewashed reclaimed wood.

Is this a piece of metal fencing or part of an iron bed?  Whatever it is, I’m seeing Christmas card holder.  Or maybe stocking holder?  This would also be really cute as a memo board for the rest of the year.

How are  your sewing skills?  Maybe iron on letters?

I see domes like this in thrift stores all the time.  Pair it with a chunk of wood, moss and an ornament.

With all my shutter projects, maybe I overlooked a really easy project.

More decorating with sleds and more ideas for decorating your front porch.

I remember having one of these saucers.  More ice skates turn the saucer into winter decor.

Love this little bench.  The perfect amount of lettering and padding.

Lace and pearl Christmas trees.  I feel a DIY project coming on.

This booth had several vintage style holiday signs.  All were painted on wood planks.  Long hinges make this sign perfect.

Plaid flannel pillows and a Farm Fresh Christmas Tree sign.  This sign looks like it’s painted on a reclaimed cabinet door.

If you don’t want to paint on wood you could convert your super cool vintage mirror into a seasonal chalk board. You can find some great chalkboard fonts and how to transfer lettering here.

Barn wood and wood letters combine to make this  Seeds sign.  Buy precut letters at the craft store or cut your own.

Have a hutch to decorate for the holidays.  How about a  grouping of juniper wreaths?

Or a single boxwood wreath on the outside of this cabinet.

You know how I love to work with barrel rings.  You may remember the Wall Clock,   or the Barrel Hoop Mirror and my latest  Lazy Susan  but if you have an extra 5 (?) rings you might want to consider making this barrel ring yard art.

I love this tablescape.  It looks rather plain, but it’s filled with cake pedestals, domes and candlesticks.  It would make a perfect multi-layered buffet.

It looks like you don’t have to have a sled for your outdoor decor.  How about a wooden ladder with a pine garland?

This booth gives you three ideas  for a Farmhouse stencil.  Love the toolbox tote with candy canes and pinecones …it would make a great centerpiece as well.

After a day of shopping and taking pictures, these old mill sifters were the only things I purchased.  I do have an idea for them but you’ll just have to wait and see.

I hope I gave you lots of inspiration for your Christmas decorating or your next party.  Make sure you pin any ideas you might want to try.

Have a great week.
