DIY Boxwood Wreath and Vintage Window

Welcome back.  If power tools intimidate you, I have a project just for you; a diy boxwood wreath framed perfectly over top of an old vintage window. No power tools necessary!  

Like a lot of my projects, I do have a bit of upcycling  (old wooden window), but this is really a craft project anyone can do.

To make this project you will need wire cutters, a foam floral wreath and boxwood garland.  I thought I could get away with just one strand of garland but I definitely needed 2.

I bought my garland at Michael’s, though I couldn’t find it online to show you.  What I did find, was their boxwood wreath priced at $109.

I also looked into making my wreath with fresh boxwood and glycerin but I wouldn’t be able to use it for at least a month and I wanted my wreath to last forever.

Since I’m using the fake stuff, I can start right away.

Start your wreath by pulling all of the branches off of the boxwood garland.  With your wire cutters separate the branches into individual stems.

With a thin nail or toothpick make holes at a 45 degree angle where your boxwood stems will go and start inserting. All of your angled holes should be facing the same way and the holes should be about 1/2″ apart.

Go back and fill in any bald spots.

When I look at my real boxwood bushes, I don’t see any white buds.  Those will have to go.

On my window, I centered my nail and cleaned up my dirty glass.
