Rotating Postcard Display Gallery Wall

Good morning and welcome back.  I’m a little late with my post today since I spent all day yesterday walking around Washington DC.  I’ve lived an hour north of the capital all my life and have never seen the cherry blossoms in bloom.  This year all the stars aligned… it was a beautiful day, it’s the week of spring break, and best of all the blossoms were still out.

Cherry Blossoms

This is the view of the Jefferson Memorial thru the cherry trees.  We did walk all the way over there, passing the  Washington  Monument,  the WWII monument,  the Martin Luther King Memorial and the memorial dedicated to FDR. The cherry blossoms did not disappoint, they really are beautiful.

1967 Good Humor Truck

I won’t bore you with all my DC photos but we finished off the day at the Smithsonian where we found this Good Humor truck parked outside.  Does anyone else remember this iconic truck?

This truck dates back all the way to 1967. I remember this truck.  This is the truck of my youth….So why does this truck have a HISTORIC license plate on it? That’s just not right.

Rotating Postcard Display Gallery Wall

I have a beautiful and easy diy for you today, a gallery wall to display all those postcards you’ve been collecting. It was super easy for me since it was actually created by my sister for her home.

The frames are all painted white  which allows the artwork from the postcards to shine.

The postcards are  attached directly to the wall with removable mounting putty.  If you have an extensive collection of vintage postcards this would be a great way to show them off with the seasons.

This frame used to house a mirror, but after the mirror fell off the wall and broke it was kind of unusable.  Even though the frame broke too, a little glue and it too makes a great frame for a postcard. Love the bow on top.

So don’t toss those random mismatched frames even if it seems like they are broken or unusable, there still might be hope.

Joan, I love the idea of rotating postcards! We have two gallery walls and I rotate photos and also…wrapping paper. There are so many pretty things you can put in the frames.

I’d love for you to join us at Thoughts of Home on Thursday this next week. 🙂

Very cool idea. I have something similar, but yours is much better. I feel a re-do coming on!

Your frames, glued or not are awesome, love shapes and that you painted them white against your gray wall, look gorgeous. At least your wall looks gray on my p/c. Love your vintage post cards, so wonderful to look at and wonder who sent them, story behind them. Not really interested in newer style postcards, old ones are more interesting to me. Great idea rotating cards for holidays and seasons.
Hope you have great rest of week.

What a great idea to be able to change up the gallery wall without taking everything down!

Ooh La Lah! This is charming, elegant, refreshingly different; just by combining basics in a beautiful way! Love the way the pinks and flowers on the cards contrast with the walls, and then all set off by the white frames! And I love textured white frames!
The cards could also be attached to glass with clear photo corners, which would have a similar effect, but be a little more work. I think calling cards would be good candidates for this treatment, too! Thanks, and please thank your genius sister for us, too!
