Are you tired of living in a chaos? We all know how difficult it is to keep your home clean and organized, especially if there are kids in the picture. You may have noticed though, that the more organized your house is, the easier it is to clean it.

This is very true and here are some tips on how to organize your home so that you can maintain it and make cleaning easier.

The first step to organizing and finding storage places to your belongings is to declutter your home. Get rid of everything unnecessary. Take a huge basket and go through every single room. Every time you see something that you do not need, you have not used in the past year, or you will not use, put it in the basket. It does not matter if it’s a children’s toy or a piece of cutlery. You can always find a place to donate them.

The next step after decluttering is to figure out a place where everything should be. For example if your child has many toys that are always scattered around the house, pick several bins or baskets, they can be different colors, and sort all of the toys into these bins. The less junk on the floor and on your furniture, the easier and faster to clean them.

If you have a cupboard full of cleaning products that also make clutter, take a few buckets and sort your cleaning products in them. Make one for your bathroom cleaners, one for your kitchen cleaners, one for your gardening tools (if any). This way they will not be scattered and cluster your cupboard and it will be easier to clean around them.

And did you know that you could use your office supplies to organize your home? Yes, it is very easy. All you need is to get yourself a desk organizer with sliding drawers and you can put all your tiny misplaced junk in it. You can use one for your make-up, you can use one for your child’s school supplies and their smaller toys.

A magazine holder is another perfect way to store your magazines, foils, paper bags, what have you.

Once you have made the right place and put away even the smallest things, you will notice how much easier it is to clean your home. The less junk that is scattered in your home, the easier it will be for you to maintain it.

Clean all toys and souvenirs from your furniture and put them in bins, so that every time you start dusting, you do not need to get them out of your way, clean them too and put them back into place. All of this is slowing you down and messes up with your rhythm.

Rearrange your food pantry and fridge in order to clean them better and easier. Put your packaged food in plastic containers, they will be easily stored and will prevent them from going bad once they are open. If you have the ability, hang some baskets in your kitchen in which you could store your fruit, or spices. This way they will not be in your way when you clean and it will give your kitchen a nice look.

Get yourself a flower stand and put all your potted plants onto it. It will look much better than if they are on your furniture or on the ground, and it will be far easier for you to clean.

Get your home organized now, store your belongings properly and you will see how much easier cleaning your house can be.

I’ll be back on Friday this week with my own bit of organizing. I’m still working on my blizzard project and it’s just about ready for it’s debut. See you then.   Joan
