Scavenging Ideas around Ellicott City , Maryland

Repurposed Wood frame

With Christmas only a week away I’ve been working on a lot of projects.

So many projects, so little time, but I just can’t show you them to you yet.  Yes, there are a couple of Christmas presents in there.  So for now, I’ll just show you what inspired me on a recent trip to Ellicott City, Maryland.

I’m sure most of you have never heard of Ellicott City, but what started out as a mill town  really became populated when the B&O Railroad built its first railroad station  outside of Baltimore there.  That railroad station is still there and is now designated as the oldest surviving railroad station in America.  Around Christmas time the station  comes alive with a fantastic train garden for all the kids (and me too).

That’s the quick history… having survived fires and floods , Ellicott City is now home to dozens of small specialty stores, restaurants, and antique stores.  A great place to get lost on a sunny afternoon.  Having said that, these things caught my eye on a recent shopping trip with my sister.

Repurposed ladder, lighting

These lights were being sold individually, but I  like the way they are displayed on a ladder for maximum impact.

Wall hooks

These are not really mail boxes at all but just a piece of wood trimmed out with hooks and  name plates to appear like country store mailboxes.

Repurposed door, shelf

An old door painted an aged bright sunny yellow with artwork and a shelf.

Upcycled keyboard box

A storage box covered with old computer keys.  A great way to upcycle.

Pallet Wood wine rack

What looks like painted pallet wood, made into a wine rack.  The painting on this reminds me of what Becky does at Beyond the Picket Fence.

gps coordinates sign, fells point sign

I like this sign with the gps coordinates.  It could easily be modified with your own home numbers, and again with a pallet wood type background.

repurposed shutters headboard

Love this headboard, could probably achieve the same look with old shutters trimmed out.

Hope I’ve given you lots of inspiration for those projects you’re gonna start in the New Year.  Remember to pin, cause if you’re like me, you’ll never find your pinspiration when you’re ready for it.  Have a great weekend.
