DIY Spring and Summer Wreath

DIY Spring and Summer Wreath

I don’t know about you, but I was having the hardest time finding a wreath this Spring to give my front door a new look.  Most of the wreaths I saw either had enormous flowers on them,  the flowers were sparse ,  I didn’t care for the colors that were chosen or if I liked the wreath it was way out of my price range.  The answer of course was to make it myself. If you would like to make a wreath yourself, you’ll find it super easy.

  • grapevine wreath
  • hot glue gun
  • bouquet or 2 of assorted  flowers in your color scheme
  • dried moss
  • wire cutters

Tear apart your moss and place it every 5 or 6 inches around your wreath.  When you have nice spacing , glue it in place.

With your wire cutters, cut off all your flowers from the stems leaving a few inches of stem (wire).  You may want to sort these by color since they should be evenly disbursed around the wreath.  With one color start gluing making sure all your stems are facing the same way and spreading them out evenly around the wreath.  Repeat with the next color.   Don’t forget to use the leaves and grasses that should have come with your bouquet and stick them in along with everything else. Within a few minutes the wreath starts to fill up and you’re done .

Add a wire to the back and it’s ready for hanging.

The part of this project which is truly scavenged….besides waiting for the flowers to go on sale half off at Michaels….was the moss, which was free.  Found it on a dying tree in the woods on one of my many hikes.  Hint for you- don’t take it all so it can regenerate.

And the  white curly branches , which you don’t necessarily need…these were found on the ground after a storm in my neighborhood.  I love free!
